The power of music comes in handy with Aaron Dean’s “Heaven Please Rewind,” with a hypnotic debut single that hits the spot at just the right time as music finds its way back to the people. The Ontario native is an Alberta transplant where he has been entertaining for the last ten years, and a debut this good should be talking about for all it is worth, because it is a little slice of perfection. The vocals are pure and raw, hitting low notes with high notes backing him with great accompaniment. This could even be part of the next generation of country artists, but that is yet to be known.

It can be very hard to rate an artist on only one song, or a song by only one artist for that matter, so odds are always against trying. I’m not saying it can’t be done, because in the case of “Heaven Please Rewind” and many others, it has been done. You just can’t help but wonder where they’re going to go from that first maiden mission to the world, but it looks good for Dean’s future with just one sample of his work, and a top notch one at that.

If only being more well-known were all there is to it, this wouldn’t take any push to get in front of the masses, it would be heard in a heartbeat. That is what reviewing, and blogging is for in the current landscape, but this is also a cut of major proportion that stands up to anything. I find Dean’s vocal prowess and musicality to be of high value as well as his lyrically focused songwriting and guitar playing chops. In fact, the guitar playing on this song classifies him to me as a killer guitar player. Talk about swoon.

One thing Dean is not is a garage level talent, which can be heard within seconds of “Heaven Please Rewind” without a doubt. The track just makes you want to hear more from him, as to be realized on a future album. Today’s singles are only worth the effort if they come attached with more, or it’s not something I would seek nor have a word to say about. The rich sound of thus music is well mixed and engineered, so it should come out even better once more of is heard, I’m just glad to hear the first result and highly recommend it.

The melody is captivating, and the voices contrast perfectly in tone, with tonal qualities also being an overall plus about it. The voices have a yin-yang sort of interaction as the move freely together, and I did not quite catch everything in one listen. The guitar, as mentioned, is a must hear and it takes a few plays to fully appreciate unless you are hooked on the first go around. I noticed more to it the more I played “Heaven Please Rewind,” so it continues to reveal more beauty as I keep playing this great first effort.
