Andy Michaels and Sharon Court cast a wide net in the song “She Reminds Me of Beautiful”. The resulting experience is one of multi-genre, almost heaven-sent tones and a burst of joy. When you truly never know what someone else is going through, it’s music like “She Reminds Me of Beautiful” that fills an immense voice or triggers a wonderful memory. Michaels’ vocals are clear and remind me of a man that has nothing but utter devotion to the women in his life. He simply adores her — his wife and his new daughter. When I look into her eyes, I see you there, he sings.

He sings with abandonment and is so relatable. He’s unfiltered and doesn’t rely on any computerized gadgets to change his vocals. I appreciated this so much, and “She Reminds Me of Beautiful” in all its sincerity is just a simple song — but one that gives so much to its listener. I don’t want a song with a guy that sings way over the top, because the song doesn’t always call for that. It’s coming from his heart, it’s from his gut that he sings for this woman and his family.

What makes this song hard to nail down a specific genre is the combination of strings, acoustic guitar, piano and a tempo that could be a slow dance. I would expect adult contemporary, but this song also branches out into New Age, Christian, country (based on the lyrics) and pop. I think this is the way of the future — people don’t want to be labeled. They want to experience music of all genres and tastes. I think as an artist Michaels understands this. He doesn’t placate to a particular audience and he’s just sharing music that feeds his soul. I have a feeling he just wants his listeners to feel something, to recall a moment or feel blessed by what they have in their life.

When I mentioned he casts a wide net, I think he also is trying to reach as many people as possible with a positive message to lift themselves up from despair or darkness. He builds such a robust energy — even though it’s not a rush, it’s a wellspring of love, light and warmth — that it’s hard not to feel completely overjoyed. Want to be happy?
