REVIEW: AV Super Sunshine — Together (SINGLE)

When it comes to crafting the perfect love song, the world is certainly at a benefit from the absolute overabundance of sources to draw from. From the simple (Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe”) to the complex (“God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys), there’s far from a drought in the market. The oversaturated market in any other category might feel like a daunting challenge for artists to rise to, but with love songs, there will never be a lacking, mainly because there will never be depletion in lovers.

For as long as music has existed, it’s either been focused on heartbreak or love — all good songs stem from one of these two schools of thought. AV Super Sunshine’s new single “Together” takes this into account and doubles down on the love aspect as they give listeners a truly pop-driven love song for the ages that feels equal parts modern as it also feels indebted to the surf rock and free love mentality of the 1960s.

Electronic elements sprinkled throughout the single give AV Super Sunshine another layer of expertise to flex, as the small additions give a major amount of character to an already extremely jubilant song. There aren’t many songs to draw a comparison to with “Together,” as it combines a wide variety of sounds and genres most bands would shy away from putting on the same album together, let alone within the same song, but the unique flavor of the track helps it rise above its contemporaries and stand on its own as a crucial addition to any beach playlist for the summer. “Together” is an unabashed love letter to love, and the sun practically beams directly out of the speakers for its entire runtime.

AV Super Sunshine seem set on saving the summer with “Together” and the airwaves are all the better for it; it’s not every day an optimistic and wide-eyed summer bop falls into your lap but with “Together” it’s one of those days! Whether you enjoy poppy, upbeat love tracks of old or new, there will be something for you here. From the lush musicianship to the confidence in vocals and performance, there’s simply nothing to knock.
