REVIEW: DICI — Beautiful Collision (SINGLE/VIDEO)
Keeping up with the ever-moving youthful mindset through trends and social media can be truly exhausting. Especially in today’s online-riddled culture, things are moving at one hundred miles per minute, and if you blink, you could be entire days behind on what the younger generation is talking about. It’s an unforgiving world, but the future of, well, everything, is in their hands, and for the most part that can be a little intimidating. Then you’re reminded of the young musical artists like Billie Eilish and maybe the intimidation dies down a little bit; if it’s good enough for the Bond series to pass the torch off to her, maybe it’s not such a bad thing for the rest of the music industry to follow suit?

Young musical artists deserve far more respect than they’re given, and we’re hopefully at the end of such discrimination — one up-and-coming artist is blazing onto the scene under the sleek moniker DICI, and with the way he has been known to flex not only his vocal chops but his rap skills, it’s evident the youth are taking charge in a great way.
DICI’s latest single, “Beautiful Collision,” tells the story of a couple who are at an emotional crossroads as they take stock on what is and isn’t working in their relationship. Pretty mature subject matter for someone so young to tackle, but if you didn’t know DICI’s young age, you’d be hard-pressed to know it from his musical prowess and presence. The lyrics are bold with a point of view you rarely hear from any artists, and DICI’s shift away from rapping with a melodic hook to fully giving himself over into singing a track front to back is a big step for the rapper/singer. His voice is effective and he can carry the pop sensibilities of the single, so the idea that this could mark the start of a new shift within DICI’s career inspires a great creative hunger.
In regards to what inspired such a direct change, “I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with something that is more pop, to see how people would respond,” DICI says. More power to him, honestly! Here’s a young artist that has made a name for himself working day in and day out finally reaping the benefits of the good work he has sowed. “I literally dedicate 12 hours plus every day to music — waking up, doing music, going to sleep, on repeat — and over the past year, I’ve made a lot of progress on the tech front, too,” DICI says. “The first EP was me saying ‘Hello, I’m here,’ and since then I’ve enjoyed connecting with fans and building a following by regularly dropping new singles with this fresh melodic sound.”
If you haven’t head of DICI yet, well get ready! Fans can rest assured that the new sound from DICI is one unlike anything the young artist has explored before, and the new era for the youthful rapper is certain to be a memorable one.
